Been an ERA

Hello Folkners,
it's been a while since,i've written... but,i wasn't able to connect to the cyber world and now that i have, even though i'm still experiencing some issues i'm right HERE.

I moved to a different location/started term two... springs coming back...i've seen snow! i've lived childhood again for a second and now that i'm back on our beloved planet ,things continue happening and happening .

So,today im going to bring you some memories from last week ..enjoy!

The snow was beautiful and made me like England even if after 2 years living here i am yet to be convinced about this place in general...anyway, yesterday i went to one of the major exhibitions happening right about now in London ,which is the Hussein Chalayan  "From fashion and back"... it was great to see creations in-front of my own eyes, even though you couldn't touch but you could definitely feel that "thing" that all of us working or collaborating in the arts chain know what i'm talking about...The exhibition gave me alot to see and alot to think about after i walked out,i definitely recommend to anyone that's around in the UK to go and take  a look... (Design Museum)

Even if i'm living in this cold dark country i still manage to get some flavors of my own colours and shades... these might just be the new colour scheme of summer 2009.

Forgot to mention ,that after the christmas 2008 holidays,i went to see a west end musical... i didn't have the best impression of the west end i always thought it's "just" a play... but, i did go and i seen "Wicked" and i have to say it was great..worth the money.

Yesterday i decided to join my family members to one of the many sunday markets you'll find over our beloved shores...and i didn't think i would enjoy it,but surprisingly i did ...there were quite a few interesting things and tones that caught the angle of my eye and i hope that you'll find interest as well as you're looking through these photos...

We made another stop on our way back,to a quiet hidden place that not everyone may know which is still within the area of Ta'Qali.

Hope you Enjoy the vibrations...

Christmas2008

So This was Christmas and now it's gone!

I did bug everyone on my contact list with this sweet christmas countdown, but really i did it with good intentions ,so it's all good...

Now that Christmas(2008) is behind us, we start looking forward  to the new year, but i haven't even had time to think about it nor deciding my resolutions or anything else that usually comes with a new year.

If you stop for a second and think how everything is going around the world right about now, the new year doesn't look full of joy or happiness but rather sad and very low stated, but hey these times of year humans are supposed to think positive and to be truthful after all of these lights flashing everywhere and a million guys looks like Santa Claus you kinda have to smile a little.

I hope everyone was home safe and sound ,warm and wrapped around the christmas trees and if you dont like it i hope you started liking it a little tiny bit,and if you still don't then contact me to add you on my contact list so next year i would have a new person to bug!

I will post more blogs later on ,because priority calls me and right now it's my belly shouting for a little "Hobz tal-Malti" (Maltese bread)..

Holy-Days

Ooooookay.

Well, Today i am leaving to go back to my country for christmas holy-days.. i certainly hope that my days will be holy  but none the less full of rest and smiles... I need a break ,but going back home doesn't assure me that it will be exactly how i wanted it to be, however i will settle for it because i have to.

I can't wait to go though, it's always good to have a taste of home and the people that come within it's package,so soon i will be starting to get ready to go go.

Still have  a lot to do around here, still have to clean the room/do the laundry and do homey stuff...but, everything will get done hopefully on time !

I will be reporting not live from my country for sure... well ,folks for now that's all i got to give you,but come back for more .

Pack-UNpack and Pack again

This week i had to repeat a pattern like way of living !

Moving from north to south, packing twice and all that you can imagine...
Sir Hassle was present all the time, had a lot to sort out in so little time... not to say that many people wasted my time and messed up my original plans ,but hey somehow with the help of good hearted people i managed to do a lot.

Now I no longer will be living in north london ,but i will be living in the university halls, looking forward to it ,but since i already had that experience last year im not sure 100% yet! just have to wait and see.

BUSYfree

...To apologize
still wouldn't do it,however i am still alive, i hope you're happy about that.

I finally finished the first term of this year's course, and just when i think "SI,i am done, over, gogogo" ...I am held back by a whole list of other things to get done, and it's not the christmas list,it's a week list before i head back to the beautiful shores of my country.

It's been very hectic...handing in work, meeting deadline,re-submitting ,bugging to get into the university halls and what not...but , i have to say that after all of that i kind of did everything i had to do...
YES,i got into halls and i will be leaving to go home this sunday, therefore in a weeks time i have to move everything from where i am because the contract is ending this month anyway... have to sort things out ,and get ready to have a mini miny mo christmas break with the family... so,i kind of have something to look forward to.

This SEFblog post takes me back when i said that student's lives are very hard to handle and not always easy to be part of or actually living the "student life".
But, i don't want to moan about it... it's a choice i made.

I am BUSY but kinda FREE.

NoNo ROYAL MoFo

OKAY.
ROYALmail, i am sorry, actually i am not!
These are the organizations we trust in, and they do us wrong and treat us as if we are the ones that aren't managing the work right.

COMPLAIN.
yes!
so,i went on to the website and it's sooo damn long ,that i don't have time for it...so maybe they know what they are doing because they don't want to hear our complaints.

I called twice and this guy hung up on me TWICE, he even told me to hold the line while he answers his personal phone-line !

WHAT?!!

yes !
and then he hung up because i asked him his name...I was way too polite... no wonder why this land is so cold.

NOT happy
SO unprofessional
SO unhelpful..

yours truly,
Royal MoFo.

As usual i am always looking for something fresh ,something new and maybe something old and let me tell you, there's always something hidden or something that's not obvious around you that you might not notice ,but it's still there staring at you...

look what i found !

I been busy as usual, no time for myself and if you see the upper part of my head, you would understand perfectly what i'm talking about, anyways... i been in the studio a lot and managing time has been so so bad, i mean i am in a big need of some planning in my professional life.

Apart from that i am still alive up in this dully city, and this weekend i been to Brighton, sad thing i didn't took any photos ,but i am sure i will have the opportunity to go back again and get some memories for you with me ...These past two days i decided i will try to relax and that, but tomorrow is back to work, back to looking for shelter, cause soon i am going to be out of my present place,so yes sir i've got lots of stuff on my mind.

Mahogany

... is the newly frizzy color of my hair.

Snowy TUE

Yes,it actually snowed late last night and early morning...

This was bit exciting for me because whenever it snowed in London last winter i always missed it for a reason or another... so even though the snow wasn't heavy it still warmed up my heart a little ...plus it's getting reallllly chilly ,it got down to -3°C yesterday,so for those who opt to show skin... i would advise to cover up before leaving any premises.

Still here

Today i didn't have university ,so i had a couple of things on my list to get done...

First thing i did was fixing my heels... then I decided to go to RIBA "royal institute of british architects",to see Anish Kapoor works, thought it was quite clean/futuristic but at the same time not all pieces convinced me...even though some works were really good as in use of shape...I added in a photo of the leaflet of the exhibitions because i couldn't take photos.

Well, after the exhibition ,i went to get myself a mannequin (FINALLY) and got back home, i feel a bit under the wether and tired as well so i didn't feel like going other places plus it looked like it's about to rain and i enjoy it more from the indoors.

Oh and guess what ?!
i got two more photos from Ronnie Scotts thanks to my friend Mike ! ( thank you Mike)

Sunday, 19 October 2008

I know I know !

I know i haven't written in ages, but i been here... just am very very busy right now with this project im doing, which will be finishing this week ,so i'm kind of struggling to finish beautifully and to be honest my chances of doing so aren't looking so positive, but hey i'm gonna keep on going untill i get something out of it ! bad or good i will keep on going...
Right now i shouldn't be here ,i should be working ,sketching and that ,but i had to update because it's been long...and so many things happened aswell...so i'm going to talk you though these couple of days.

Yes!
i am a whole No.20. now ...13th OCT... didn't celebrate cause i never do ! but, i need to thank everyone that wished me a good one though,i appreciate it .

Last Friday i went to the World famous jazz spot "Ronnie Scotts" i always wanted to go ,but never had the chance to and since,my friend was in town ,he decided to take me as a birthday gift to see a great GREAT musician Jon Faddis...i have to say it's quite of a small place, but it makes you feel like you're in a private gig which i guess is the whole point of it,so it was cool, i loved it ...definitely was the highlight of my week.
Will visit again for sure and i couldn't take photos inside ,but i know that my friend did ha! so if i get hold of any photos i will post them for sure...

It's funny that some of people that read my blog, have no idea of how or what i look like hah! so i added this photo,so you'll know who's mind you're reading whenever you feel like reading my words on here.

I apologize if i will take another era to write in here again, but i am truly busy with this university life,i don't even have time for myself ..but anyway enough of the moaning ,i'm getting back to slavery work ! haha.. see you soon dear folky friends.

So much to do ,So little time

DamnDamnDamn.
I've got so much to get done this weekend,it's unreal... and to be honest with you ,it feels like i am not going to manage to have everything ready for monday ,but i am still gonna keep on going and see were i end up heh !
It's really hard to keep up with the times, and i like to take my time and have to say am a little slow in working, not gonna lie!!,but i try still...so i guess i should get credit for that right?

Well,i wish myself the best ...i can only do what i "can" do.

Tuesday, 7 October 2008

Do you ever stop and wonder ?!

Do you?

Today i was in the studio, and all of a sudden i stopped and thought how empty, but full  my life was... and that even though i have everything i kinda have nothing, might not make much sense to you, but those couple of words describe exactly how my state of mind is at this particular time in life.

Paris Fashion Week

The thing that i long for about paris fashion week is that every year there's lots of variety for everyones eyes to see... it always has high expectations as other fashion weeks, and it never fails to deliver... unlike other mayor fashion weeks i think Paris stood out the most in giving different aspects and researching different sources this year... anyway i hope you enjoy the collections i chose to feature on SEFblog.

                                                                           Vivienne Westwood

Beloved Brother Boots

Boots Boots boots...
to me it was like the favorite pair of jeans.

These Boots were so close to my heart,so so close... i wore them 90% of the week ,they were like a brother to me.
Now,i'm going to have to let them go in a way or another, they're no longer living healthily...i tried chewing gum,nails... everything.I will try to operate them again, but if things don't work out i will have to inject them and let them go.

And then yesterday i had to go do some "material shopping" and after i joined my friend ,because she was looking for boots and i was like why not i will go and stay for a couple of minutes and as we went into the first shop i found these black boots that were looking right into my eyes, they looked like nice boots and what not... but i knew that they weren't going to replace my brother boots... i never give up chances ,so i tried them on and they kinda made me look good ,so i got them !!

They're not my brother boots and they won't replace them either... but, they definitely are the boots that will accompany me through out these upcoming months :)

This week i bought some flowers from sainsbury, the cheapest that i found in the bunch ,since my budget is very tight at the moment.I'm thinking of keeping this tradition. They kind of lighten up my space.

I roughly followed Milan fashion week... i am a bit sorry to say that ,but you know, i had other things going on at the same time...in fact i was trying to catch up to everything ,but it's not as easy as it may seem, however these are some collections that i enjoyed watching.

Enrollment day

It was a warm day today and what a great way to take off to do three train changes and a long walk to my second home ie; university...

It was enrollment day, and i expected it to be longer then it actually was ... it was quite quick, an hour maximum,i got to know a little about a cypriot girl which will be in my course and cruised a little around the campus.
I'm still not excited to start this new chapter in life, but i will take it as it comes.

I didn't take photos of the university because today it wasn't really about it,it was more about enjoying the day and get things done...so along my way there and back i took a couple of flicks, enjoy and soon soon i will have some on the university maybe.

I have to say Kent is a beautiful place...fresh air,big houses and peaceful... but it is  abit dead and the nearest supermarket from the uni is said to be 20 minutes away! so,that's a bit of a shame ,but overall i guess it's not so bad considering it's only about 30 minutes away from central London, and since i'm thinking of moving house again i am considering every little thing there is on the table.

It's a long walk to university from the over-ground train station, but today i really didn't mind... the sun was shining ,the air was positive and everything else was flowing... i have to say while i was walking i was thinking to myself that maybe after-all Kent is not thatttt bad, even though it's nothing like London.

This bridge reminded me of an old school / little modern western film ... actually the whole station is a bit that way,at least for me anyway ! But, i like it ...YES ,i admit i didn't even have the intention of moving down to Kent ,but after today i am thinking twice and reconsidering my options, because it's much cheaper and more relaxed... but of course it still has its disadvantages.

To finish off, i couldn't not capture this image... it probably even made my day !
I wonder if they have opposite personalities ? or if they clash a lot ? or how long they been together ? ... but at the end of the day ,i couldn't help but notice that they had the same looks in their eyes and the same outfit.
i love it.

Future Holds...

I got on my knees and took the role of the cleaning lady today, my room was a mess and as i was going through boxes, files and papers i found this little sketch i did when i was staying at a friends house just before i moved in here this past summer...It kind of reminded me that in life there's fresh starts whenever we want to have one !

So tomorrow, as i will go to enroll into my degree course i want to go in there heads high and a bag full of willingness ...

They're not your usual 7:00 a.m. tea visitors, but they surely never miss to come and make noise which usually works better then my alarm. Same time /Same place... especially after a rainy day.

These are my friends Pee and Poo.

SEFscoop

It's interesting how, you can know some people for what they do in life , but they don't let you know what they really enjoy doing!

So,this morning i was speaking to my friend and we got into a conversation about another friends name and why they call him that way... and he was narrating me through this story, that i never knew ... My friend "Eze Izundu" was telling me that ones he was the European champion of the game that we all know and love "Tekken 4"... even though the last tekken game i remember was tekken 2/3, he got me into knowing more about it...

He won many tournaments around in Europe and was featured in various magazines ,however the biggest acchievemnt through it all was the one held in Holland "The european championship" after that him and past champions were approached to write a book about tricks and other bits and bobs ,so when tekken 5 came out ,the book was going to be published aswell. Lately he won another tournament in Italy for Tekken 5,so the saga continues...i wonder were he'll be going next !

This is all so intriguing to me because i was and still am a fan and i never knew that i knew a champion all this time.

The book "Official Tekken 5 strategy guide" was published around two years ago by "future press" , my friend Eze Izundu known as Star Scream was one of the featured champion writers in it.

Enjoy the good memories...

Been around...

Sometimes,i start my day with a lemon...
no i just wanted to show you this nice tone of yellow.

I haven't updated SEFblog in a bit, because my mum and aunt were visiting in London, and they definitely kept me busy and around the country, from early morning till not so late because they liked to sleep early!
It was good to have them around,i believe that a taste of what we all call "home" brings us back to reality most of the times anyway...They stayed with me this time, and it wouldn't have been their preference ,because if it was for them they would have changed and cleaned every angle of this house...but, we still had a good time.I mean they literally changed the whole setting of the room im in and it's much better now...to prove my point ,my mum washed the floor of my room 15 minutes before they took off on the train to go to the airport ...call them crazy .... and i will fully agree with you.

Well i been around in Finsbury park ,Watford ,Aldgate east ,Whitechapel ,Mile end , Russell square and even went up to Leicester...
So, from cafe place to another we went around the UK in 3 days...

The first day we went to finsbury park and then we went all the way up to Watford or even further i think...We went to a very big factory ...
The area was much cleaner then then the other areas in London and the houses much bigger... but nothing much going on of course.. I always thought London would have been sleepless everywhere ,everyday ,but let me tell you ... it not like that !

The next day we made our way to King Cross station to catch our train to Leicester... If you've been in London more then a couple of years ago, then you won't remember King's Cross St.Pancras station to be this way, they re-done it and now it looks more like a shopping centre/station ... looks great.

We got on the train and started our journey to Leicester which i never been... so i didn't know what to expect...

...and yes i am still wearing flip flops, because the back of my feet is still hurting and even though flip flops are so tiring i couldn't do any other way...couldn't wear anything that covers my the back of my feet !

As we got to Leicester...again i thought it's a very clean place...and we met a few people that suggested that we go and visit the new shopping centre in the centre of Leicester.. which is called "Highcross".
It's huge and you'll find everything that you usually find in malls or shopping arcades...Apparently it got refurbished and extended.

That was Leicester for us today...and then we headed back to the train station to go back to London! It was a long day, woke up very early  and walked alot as well ... but i don't regret going.

The journey takes about one hour and fifteen minutes; it was a bit annoying that there was no Internet on the train, so of course I was simply enjoying the furry green scenery all the way to today’s destination “Leicester” and then back to London.

Leicester is a bit too empty for my likes, but very very clean and has nice houses… the majority of the people there are Indian, so it’s more like an Indian community…

Got back to London...

We decided we wanted some good cooking,so they took me to this Italian restaurant in Russell's square that we always go to when they're in town.

They have walls covered of postcards and photos from all over the world, but it's a shame that i didn't see one of Malta...well,maybe it was on a different wall !

The next day we went to the east sides of London...i used to live in Aldgate east/whitechapel areas for a year.We had lunch at a Marrakech cafe place and then went around for a bit...

Today it brought back so many memories... and the only thing i was thinking was that time sure flies so quickly ,that sometimes i don't even have a minute to stop and think how far i've came in life and how far i want to go.

Camden Camden

The other day i went to Camden town again, it's really a breath of fresh air for London... it's one of those spots were i feel like i could live in for a longer period of time and even though a lot of people know about it,it still feels a bit underground..

It's a vibe.

I found some stuff that i want to get from market as well,it's a whole lot of variety... as long as you know what to pick ,then it's all good.

This food stand had some kind of candy that looks a little like something we have back in my country.. we call it "Qubbajt".. I got no idea what these people call it, but it sure looks delicious.

These weren't lights, don't be fooled !! ,they were pieces of metallic kind of cardboard and with the wind they move opposite ways and it creates that effect..it looked like the guy was giving them for free, everyone was surrounding the table.

I went on a saturday and it was so packed...you can barely move properly, it's not just like an alternative option to the west end,but it's the place to be.Of course,it's not everyone's cup of tea... i don't think my mum would enjoy it as much as i did... but, don't think it's for a cetain age group, there's no such thing.

Drop Dead Gorgeous Foot Scrubs

Everyone likes them some nice foot scrubs, but HEY don't take it too far !!

Surely after a long days work with someone scrubing your feet sounds good
after a day in the jungle with someone scrubbing your feet sounds good
after two hours in church with someone scrubbing your feet sounds good

but, don't let these deadly twins fool you...
look what happened to me the other day.

Well, after i had to console myself in a way that takes all that pain away... so,i decided to go on pizzahut.co.uk ,and their website wasn't working ,so i called them and some crazy rude girl picks up and i'm patient with her cause i wanted my pizza!
At the end of the day i could say i slept happy, yes after all that pain, but i had pan mushroom pizza ,which its my usual favorite.

...Even though, that rude girl must have put something in my pizza because the tomato salsa tasted different!

Take a look .YUM.

New York Fashion week

I'm not the biggest follower of "fashion weeks",but i do like to see what's going on around the world, and as every season, the waves bring back these mayor fashion weeks...
So, i thought having a little peep hopefully ...won't hurt my eyes!

I put up some photos from various designers that i thought stood out the most... of course there were others that had certain pieces in a whole collection so i didn't add those, i added the ones that had a stronger collection over all...

I am mostly looking forward to the Paris fashion week because usually it's the one that has more creativity and innovation design wise,However i will do my best to follow the mayor ones, even though i have to say that it's not fair on to other countries which aren't Milan/New York/Paris or London, because they don't get as much press and exposure !

Anyway,my personal favorites from this week were Portis 1961 / Anna Sui and Marc Jacobs , from the other ones that i have on here, i would have only chosen some pieces...

Until next time Folks..
have a good sunday and enjoy these collections.
